Common Sandpiper


The Common Sandpiper
is a small, agile wader with a distinctive bobbing gait. It has a contrasting pattern of brown upperparts and white underparts, and a distinctive white stripe above the eye. 

Key features:

Size: 19-21 cm   
Habitat: Found in a variety of wetland habitats, including rivers, lakes, ponds, and coasts.   
Distribution: Breeds in Europe and Asia, winters in Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and Australia.   
Behavior: Often seen alone or in pairs, but can form larger flocks during migration.   
Diet: Feeds on insects, worms, and small crustaceans.   
Breeding: Nests on the ground near water, laying 4 eggs.
